Two-Phase Treatment in 60004
If your doctor recommends treatment as a conclusion of your child's consultation, you may expect two major phases of the treatment plan.
Early or Interceptive Treatment (Phase I)
Phase I will begin before the permanent teeth come in. It is necessary to start the treatment right away while children have most of their baby teeth. Based on your child's development your doctor will decide when is the most appropriate time to start Phase Two.
Early Treatment will correct bite, intercept any developing problems and prevent the development of future problems as they guide permanent teeth into a more favorable position and establish long-term stability of the teeth. As the jaw grows into the correct alignment your child will develop an esthetically more pleasing arrangement of teeth and lips and essentially the entire face.
Traditional Braces (Phase II)
Phase II will move permanent teeth into their final positions and improve the function of permeant teeth. As facial esthetics improve your child's self esteem will also increase.
For best outcome of orthodontic treatment, it is crucial to start early while your doctor can guide correct development of the jaws and facial features. Correcting problems later in life when the growth and development is complete may require drastic procedures.
