What is Invisalign?

In the world of orthodontics, Invisalign has created a revolution. Invisalign is a system of clear aligners that helps correct a variety of orthodontic problems. These clear aligner trays are virtually invisible to the naked eye and work similarly to traditional metal braces. They are easy to wear and can be fully removed to properly and fully clean your teeth. We offer Invisalign to patients looking to enhance and perfect their smiles.

Unlike traditional metal braces that utilize brackets and wires, Invisalign aligners are made from SmartTrack material designed for comfort and precise tooth movement. Every aligner is custom-crafted to fit snugly over your teeth, gradually shifting them toward their ideal positions - making this option an excellent solution for those seeking more discreet orthodontic care.

Why do you need Invisalign?

Definite Dental Solutions provides Invisalign treatment to those suffering from overcrowded, crooked, or misalignment of teeth. The treatment can be effective for malocclusion problems as well, such as overbites and underbites. Treatment is specific to each individual patient, with some needing Invisalign for just a little over six months and others requiring treatment for two or more years. It is a great option for older teens and adults who need to maintain a professional appearance.

    Invisalign provides numerous advantages, including:

    • Aesthetic Appeal: With their aesthetic appeal and minimal visibility, clear aligners provide the ideal treatment option for maintaining a natural-looking smile during treatment.

    • Comfort: Invisalign trays offer the comfort and ease of wear that metal braces cannot. Instead of irritating gums and cheeks with their protrusions, Invisalign aligners are designed for wear with minimal irritation to gums or cheeks.

    • Convenience: Since aligners can be removed at will, patients can enjoy all their favorite food without restrictions or limitations.

    • Improved Oral Hygiene: When brushing and flossing, metal brackets and wires no longer pose obstacles to cleaning your teeth effectively. This means more efficient oral hygiene practices.

If you’re looking for a new denstist’s office look no further. This was hands down the BEST dental experience I have ever had. I needed a significant amount of dental work done and knew it prior to my first cleaning with Definite Dental Solutions. The staff was so informative, nice, and gave me a straightforward treatment plan for my teeth.

What makes you a good candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign uses a system of clear trays to deliver high-quality results. They are useful for teens and adults who are able to follow through with their treatment and keep the aligners in place. Ideally, Invisalign should be worn for about 22 hours each day and only removed to eat and brush your teeth.

Invisalign is right for you If any of the following apply:

Have mild to moderate orthodontic issues such as crowding, spacing, or bite issues

Are committed to wearing aligners daily

    Prefer an alternative solution

Have optimal oral health without cavities or gum disease

Invisalign is a great choice for most patients, but it isn’t for everyone. Additionally, orthodontic treatment may be needed in extreme cases. Because of this, a full examination and consultation with our doctor is necessary before treatment starts.

What happens during the procedure for Invisalign?

As part of our Invisalign treatment process, regular visits to our office will ensure its successful progression. It begins with an extensive consultation during which we assess your teeth and take X-rays before discussing your goals for Invisalign therapy with Dr. Thind. She will create a tailored orthodontic treatment plan specifically tailored for you based on what she learns during this consultation session.

Here is what to expect:

  • Digital Impressions: To accurately map out and guarantee results for treatment plans, digital impressions are taken for precise and predictable results.
  • Custom Aligners: Digital impressions are sent to a lab where your custom aligners will be manufactured.
  • Receive Your Aligners: Once ready, you will be provided with your first set of aligners, along with instructions on how to wear and maintain them.
  • Regular Check-ups: It is necessary for you to visit our office every couple of weeks so we can monitor your progress and provide new aligners as your teeth shift.

Once your treatment is finished, it may be necessary to wear a retainer to keep your new smile from shifting back into its previous position.

Brush and floss regularly without the trays! Invisalign provides faster and longer-lasting results compared to other options; plus, it's often more comfortable for patients than other methods of treatment. Treatment experiences go smoothly, and most individuals quickly adjust to wearing aligners within days.

Caring for Your Invisalign Aligners

Follow these care tips for optimal Invisalign tray maintenance:

  • Clean Them Daily: Rinse and brush your aligners daily using a soft toothbrush and mild soap, but avoid toothpaste as this may be too abrasive and cause cloudiness.
  • Remove Before Eating or Drinking: To protect the aligners and avoid staining and build-up of bacteria, water should only be consumed while wearing your aligners.
  • Store Them Safely: When not in use, always store your aligners in their protective case to reduce damage or loss.
  • Maintain Proper Oral Hygiene: It is important to brush and floss after meals before reinserting your aligners to reduce food particles and bacteria accumulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. It’s a popular alternative to metal braces for teens and adults who want a more discreet option.

  • How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign aligners are custom-made to fit your teeth and apply gentle pressure to guide them into proper alignment. You’ll wear each set of aligners for about 1–2 weeks, then switch to the next in the series. Over time, your smile shifts into place.

  • What Dental Issues Can Invisalign Fix?

Invisalign can treat a wide range of concerns, including:

    • Crowded teeth

    • Gaps between teeth

    • Overbite, underbite, and crossbite

    • Mild to moderate misalignment

For more complex cases, your dentist or orthodontist can determine if Invisalign is still an option.

  • Is Invisalign Better Than Traditional Braces?

    Invisalign offers several benefits:

    • Virtually invisible appearance

    • Removable for eating, brushing, and flossing

    • No metal brackets or wires

    • Often more comfortable than traditional braces

However, traditional braces may be better for more severe alignment issues. Your provider will help you choose the best option for your needs.

  • How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?

Treatment time varies based on your case but typically ranges from 6 to 18 months. Wearing your aligners 22 hours per day and following instructions closely can help you stay on track.

  • How Often Do I Need to Visit the Dentist During Treatment?

You’ll typically visit your provider every 6–8 weeks for progress checks and to receive your next sets of aligners. These visits are usually shorter and less frequent than with traditional braces.

  • Does Invisalign Hurt?

You may feel some mild pressure or discomfort when switching to a new aligner, but it usually subsides after a day or two. Most patients find Invisalign much more comfortable than braces.

  • Can I Eat and Drink With Invisalign?

You’ll need to remove your aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water. This helps prevent staining, damage, and buildup. Be sure to brush your teeth before putting your aligners back in.

  • How Do I Clean My Aligners?

Rinse your aligners daily and gently brush them with a soft toothbrush (no toothpaste). You can also use special Invisalign cleaning crystals or a mild, clear soap to keep them fresh.

  • Will I Need Retainers After Invisalign?

Yes—just like with braces, wearing a retainer after Invisalign helps maintain your results. Your dentist will recommend a retainer type and wearing schedule based on your treatment.

  • Is Invisalign Covered by Insurance?

Some dental insurance plans include orthodontic benefits that cover a portion of Invisalign treatment. Our office can check your benefits and help you explore financing options if needed.

  • Am I a Candidate for Invisalign?

If you have healthy teeth and gums and are looking to correct mild to moderate alignment issues, Invisalign may be right for you. The best way to know is to schedule a consultation with your provider.
